सुभाषितरत्नभाण्डागार,सुभाषितावलि, सुभाषितसुधानिधि,सुभाषितरत्नाकर,समयोचितपद्यमालिका  and सुभाषितरत्नसमुच्चय are some books that contain a huge collection of subhashitas (good sayings, proverbs, aphorisms and thoughts that usually depict a moral) from Sanskrit Literature. Some subhashitas from these books are as below-

Meaning - Just as miseries come in the lives of people  uninvited, So too good times also come of their own. And the times of misery are overcome. In other words, nothing is permanent. Good & bad times keep interchanging. Day is followed by night & night, by day.

Meaning- A pitcher full of water does not make sound (while being carried) , but a pitcher half (filled with water) makes much noise. A high born scholarly person is never proud of himself. The fools who do not possess any virtue are very talkative.

( Empty vessels make more noise)

Meaning- What (harm) can Kalipurusha do to him , whose heart is full of kindness , whose speech is adorned with truth and whose body is for the good of others.

Wise people should  forgive the errors committed by those with lesser intelligence. For,  wisdom/ scholarliness is not easily available everywhere ,  not everyone can be a wise person/ scholar.

Meaning - "Food is mine , clothes are mine , the wife is mine and the relatives are mine." The goat in the form of a man who says ' मे मे '(mine , mine) sound like this is eaten by the wolf in the form of time (Death).
